Website development and SEO for Canada, delivered from India

Uptech World is a website development and SEO company based in Amritsar, Punjab, building websites and running search campaigns since 2010. We work with Canadian small businesses that want a professional website and steady enquiries from Google, without paying big-city agency rates for every hour of work.

We are open about how we work. We do not have an office in Canada and we do not pretend to. Your project is planned, designed, built and supported by our team in Amritsar, and everything happens by phone, WhatsApp and email. You get a written proposal before any work starts, design mockups before development, a progress update every week, and full ownership of everything we build.

Most Canadian businesses that contact us need the same few things: a fast website that works properly on phones, a Google Business Profile that is set up and maintained, and local SEO aimed at the city or cities where their customers actually are. That is what this page explains, along with the Canadian details that an overseas developer needs to get right.

Why Canadian businesses work with us

Time differences with major Canadian cities

India does not change its clocks, so the gap with Canada shifts by an hour when daylight saving time starts and ends. This table shows how far ahead Amritsar is of each city:

CityTime zoneIndia is ahead by
Toronto, Brampton, MississaugaEastern10½ hours (9½ in summer)
Ottawa and MontrealEastern10½ hours (9½ in summer)
WinnipegCentral11½ hours (10½ in summer)
Calgary and EdmontonMountain12½ hours (11½ in summer)
Vancouver, Surrey, AbbotsfordPacific13½ hours (12½ in summer)
HalifaxAtlantic9½ hours (8½ in summer)

In practice, an early-morning call in Ontario or an evening call in British Columbia usually works well for both sides. We agree a regular call time at the start of each project, and you can send messages on WhatsApp or email whenever it suits you. We reply within one business day.

Common problems we see on Canadian small-business websites

When Canadian businesses come to us about an existing website, the same issues come up again and again:

  • The site was built years ago, looks fine on a laptop and is hard to use on a phone.
  • Every service is listed on one page, so Google cannot rank any of them properly.
  • The address and phone number on the website do not match Google Maps or Yelp.
  • There is no consent checkbox on forms, no privacy policy and no cookie notice.
  • Nobody has the login for the domain, the hosting or the website admin area.
  • There is no tracking, so nobody knows whether the site brings any enquiries at all.

Most of these can be fixed without starting from scratch. Where a rebuild makes more sense, we explain why before you spend anything.

Local SEO in Canada works city by city

Google shows different results in Brampton than in Calgary, even for the same search. For local searches, it shows a map with three businesses before the normal results, and which businesses appear depends on relevance, distance and prominence. That is why a Canadian SEO plan starts with where your customers are, not with a list of keywords.

For a business with one location, the work centres on a complete Google Business Profile in the right category, a website with a clear page for each service, consistent contact details across the web and a steady flow of genuine reviews. For businesses with several real locations, each one gets its own profile and, where it helps customers, its own page with genuinely local information such as parking, nearby landmarks and the services offered at that branch.

Canadian details matter too. We use Canadian spelling such as "colour" and "centre", format phone numbers and postal codes correctly, and keep your listings consistent on the directories Canadians use, such as Yelp, Yellow Pages Canada and Canada411, as well as Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. A .ca domain often builds extra trust with local customers, and we can help you choose and register one in your name.

Speed and hosting for Canadian visitors

A website built in India can be just as fast in Toronto as one built down the street, as long as it is hosted and optimised properly. We host your site with a reputable provider, in a data centre and plan that suits your audience, and use caching and image optimisation so pages load quickly on Canadian mobile networks.

If your industry or customers expect Canadian data residency, tell us at the start and we will plan hosting around it. We test every page with Google's own tools and on real phones before launch, and keep an eye on Core Web Vitals in Search Console afterwards.

Canadian rules your website should follow

An overseas developer who ignores local rules can leave you exposed. These are the main ones we plan for on Canadian projects:

  • PIPEDA: Canada's federal privacy law for businesses. Your website needs a clear privacy policy and should only collect the personal information it actually needs.
  • Quebec's Law 25: stricter consent and transparency rules for personal information of Quebec residents, including how cookies and tracking are handled.
  • CASL: Canada's anti-spam law. Email sign-up forms need clear consent that is not pre-ticked, and every marketing email needs an unsubscribe link.
  • AODA in Ontario: private organisations with 50 or more employees in Ontario must make their websites meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility. We design with accessibility in mind for every client.
  • French language in Quebec: businesses selling to Quebec customers generally need their commercial website available in French.

We are developers, not lawyers, so we always recommend checking your specific obligations with a Canadian adviser. What we make sure of is that the website gives you the tools to comply: proper consent options, policy pages, accessible design and clean, trackable forms.

eCommerce and payments for Canadian stores

Online stores for Canadian customers should show prices in Canadian dollars, calculate GST, HST or PST correctly for each province, and offer shipping options that make sense, such as Canada Post and the courier services your customers expect. We set up payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, Square or Moneris, depending on what suits your business and bank.

We also pay attention to what slows Canadian shoppers down: long checkout forms, surprise shipping costs at the last step and pages that load slowly on mobile data. Our eCommerce website development page has more detail.

Google Ads and Meta Ads in Canada

SEO takes months to build; ads can bring enquiries this week. We set up and manage Google Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads inside your own accounts, with your budget paid directly to Google or Meta in Canadian dollars and our management fee kept separate.

Campaigns can target a single city, a radius around your business or several provinces at once, and for Quebec we can run French-language ads alongside English ones. Every campaign is connected to conversion tracking before launch, so you see which clicks turned into calls and form enquiries rather than guessing from click counts.

Industries we help in Canada

Trucking and logistics

Many transport companies in Brampton, Surrey and Calgary need two things from a website: quote requests from shippers and applications from drivers. We build separate, clear pages for each, with forms that collect the right details and work well on a phone.

Restaurants, sweet shops and catering

Menus that load fast, accurate opening hours, catering enquiry forms and links to the delivery apps you already use, plus a Google Business Profile with good photos and regular posts.

Real estate and mortgage professionals

Listing and neighbourhood pages, lead forms and clear display of your brokerage and licence details, which provincial regulators usually require in advertising.

Immigration consultants

Clear service pages, consultation booking and visible licence information. Regulated consultants in Canada are licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, and clients look for that detail before they get in touch.

Contractors and home services

Plumbers, electricians, renovators and cleaners rely on calls from people who need help now. Service-area pages, tap-to-call buttons and genuine reviews matter more here than anything else.

Clinics and wellness

Dental, physiotherapy and wellness clinics need practitioner profiles, service pages, online booking or appointment requests, and careful handling of any health information in forms.

Why Punjabi-owned businesses in Canada call us

Canada has a large and successful Punjabi community, especially around Brampton, Surrey, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Abbotsford. Many of the businesses we hear from are family-run and serve both the wider community and Punjabi-speaking customers.

Being able to explain a project in Punjabi or Hindi, and understanding the businesses, festivals and family decision-making behind it, makes the work easier and the result better. Where it helps your customers, we can also plan pages or posts in Punjabi alongside English, with the correct language settings so Google understands both.

Province by province: what changes for your website

Canada is one country online, but the details that matter to customers and regulators change from province to province. These are the differences we plan for most often:

Ontario: Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Ottawa

Canada's largest and most competitive market. Searches for common services in the Greater Toronto Area attract dozens of well-funded competitors, so specific pages for each service and a strong, review-rich Google Business Profile matter more here than anywhere else in the country. Online shops charge Ontario's 13% HST, and larger organisations must meet the province's accessibility standard. Brampton and Mississauga have a large South Asian business community, where bilingual Punjabi and English content can help.

British Columbia: Vancouver, Surrey and Abbotsford

Pacific time puts BC furthest from Amritsar, so we plan calls for your early evening. Surrey and Abbotsford have one of Canada's largest Punjabi communities, and many family businesses there serve both Punjabi-speaking and English-speaking customers. BC charges provincial sales tax separately from GST, which online shops must calculate correctly.

Alberta: Calgary and Edmonton

Alberta has no provincial sales tax, only GST, which keeps checkout simple. Trucking, construction, trades and energy-related businesses are strong here, and many rely on quote request forms and recruitment pages as much as on customer enquiries.

Quebec: Montreal and Quebec City

Quebec has the most distinct online rules in Canada. Commercial websites aimed at Quebec customers generally need to be available in French, Law 25 sets stricter consent requirements for personal information, and online shops charge QST on top of GST. Keyword research has to be done in French, not translated from English, because people search differently.

Prairies and Atlantic Canada

In Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and in smaller centres across Atlantic Canada, competition for local searches is usually lighter, so a complete Google Business Profile and a clear website can move a business up quickly. Sales tax differs again by province, so shops selling nationally need tax rules set for each one.

A Canadian business calendar

Demand in Canada follows the seasons and the tax year closely. Planning content and ads two to three months ahead of each peak gives Google time to index new pages and gives you time to test campaigns:

SeasonWhat changesWhat we plan for
January to AprilTax season, with personal returns due at the end of AprilAccountants and tax preparers need booking pages and ads live by January
March to JuneSpring renovations, landscaping, moving and trucking demandService pages and Google Ads for home services before the thaw
July and AugustTourism, patios, events and summer travelUpdated hours, event pages and fresh Business Profile photos
September and OctoberBack to school and Thanksgiving in early OctoberEducation and food businesses update offers and menus
October and NovemberDiwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, then Black FridayPromotions for South Asian retailers, sweet shops and caterers
November to FebruaryWinter services, holiday shopping and Boxing DaySnow removal, furnace and heating pages, gift and sale campaigns

.ca domains, hosting and business email

A .ca domain tells Canadian customers you are local, but it is not open to everyone: CIRA, which runs .ca, requires the registrant to meet its Canadian Presence Requirements, such as being a Canadian business or resident. We register it in your name so it stays yours.

We also set up professional email on your own domain through a provider such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, with the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that stop your quotes and invoices from landing in spam. If your industry or customers expect data to stay in Canada, we choose hosting in a Canadian data centre.

A realistic SEO timeline for Canadian businesses

  • First two months: audit, technical fixes, Google Business Profile work and content planning. This is mostly groundwork.
  • Months three to six: longer and less competitive searches usually start to improve, and Search Console shows more impressions and clicks.
  • Six to twelve months: competitive searches in cities like Toronto or Vancouver become realistic as content, reviews and local mentions build up.

These are typical patterns, not promises. Competition in your city and industry makes a big difference, and we report the real numbers every month.

Frequently asked questions

No. Our team works from our office in Amritsar, Punjab, India, and every Canadian project is delivered remotely. You never need to visit us: briefs, designs, feedback and approvals all happen by phone, WhatsApp and email.

Most of the work does not need both of us online at the same moment. You can send feedback whenever it suits you, and we agree a regular call time at the start of the project. Many Canadian clients like knowing that work moves forward overnight while they sleep.

Yes, we can build bilingual English and French websites with the correct language settings so Google shows the right version to each visitor. The French text should be written or checked by a fluent French speaker; you can supply it, or we can discuss options with you.

We build with them in mind: consent checkboxes that are not pre-ticked, clear unsubscribe links, a privacy policy and cookie consent where required. We are not lawyers, so we always recommend confirming your obligations with a Canadian legal adviser.

Yes. Each real location gets its own profile and, where useful, its own page on your website with genuinely local information. We do not create fake locations or virtual-office listings, because they break Google's guidelines and get suspended.

International projects are invoiced in US dollars and paid by international bank transfer, with 50% upfront to start. The full scope, timeline and payment terms are set out in a written proposal and service agreement before any work begins.

Yes, if you genuinely serve those cities. If you have a real location in each, each one gets its own Google Business Profile. If you travel to customers, we set you up as a service-area business and create useful pages about the work you do in each area. We do not create copy-paste city pages, because Google treats them as doorway pages.
