Website development and SEO for American small businesses
Uptech World is a website development and SEO company in Amritsar, Punjab, building websites and running search campaigns since 2010. We work with small and growing businesses in the United States that need a fast, professional website and a steady flow of enquiries from Google, at a cost that makes sense for a small business.
We do not have a US office, and we do not use a virtual address to look local. Every project is planned, designed, built and supported by our team in Amritsar, with briefs, designs, feedback and approvals handled by phone, WhatsApp and email. You get a written proposal before work starts, mockups to approve before development, a progress update every week and full ownership of everything we build.
The US is one of the most competitive search markets in the world, so a good-looking website is only the starting point. What usually moves rankings and sales for American businesses is the combination of technical quality, genuinely helpful content, a strong Google Business Profile and landing pages built to turn expensive paid clicks into customers. This page explains how we approach each of those for US clients.

Time differences with major US cities
India does not use daylight saving time, so the gap with most US cities changes by an hour twice a year. Here is how far ahead Amritsar is:
| City | Time zone | India is ahead by |
|---|---|---|
| New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami | Eastern | 10½ hours (9½ in summer) |
| Chicago, Houston, Dallas | Central | 11½ hours (10½ in summer) |
| Denver | Mountain | 12½ hours (11½ in summer) |
| Phoenix | Mountain, no daylight saving | 12½ hours all year |
| Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle | Pacific | 13½ hours (12½ in summer) |
| Fresno, Yuba City, Sacramento | Pacific | 13½ hours (12½ in summer) |
| Honolulu | Hawaii, no daylight saving | 15½ hours all year |
In practice, early-morning calls on the East Coast and early-evening calls on the West Coast work well. Between calls you can message us on WhatsApp or email at any hour, and work continues while you sleep.
Competing in the US search market
In most American cities, several well-funded competitors are already chasing the same searches you want. Ranking among them is rarely about one trick. It comes from doing the basics better than everyone else, consistently: a site that loads fast and works perfectly on phones, a clear page for each service, content that answers the questions customers really ask, and a reputation that shows up in reviews and mentions across the web.
We start every US SEO project with an audit of your site and the businesses already ranking for your main searches. That shows what it will realistically take to compete, which searches are worth chasing first and where paid ads might make more sense while organic rankings build. Google is the main focus, but Bing has a meaningful share of US searches, and Apple Maps matters for iPhone users, so we keep your details accurate there too.
Local SEO across US cities and states
For "near me" searches and searches that include a city, Google shows a map with three businesses before the normal results. Which businesses appear depends on relevance, distance and prominence, including reviews. Your Google Business Profile is the heart of this, so we make sure it uses your real business name, the most accurate category, complete services, hours and photos, and regular posts.
If you have several real locations, each gets its own profile and, where it helps customers, its own page with genuinely local information. If you travel to customers, such as contractors and cleaners, we set you up as a service-area business and build useful pages about the work you do in each area. We never create fake addresses or virtual-office listings: Google suspends them, and they can take your real listing down with them.
We also keep your name, address and phone number consistent on the sites Americans actually use, such as Yelp, the Better Business Bureau, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect, plus the directories that matter in your industry.
US rules and risks your website should account for
American businesses face real legal risk from websites that ignore these areas. We plan for them on every US project:
- Accessibility and the ADA: website accessibility lawsuits are common in the US. We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA: proper contrast, alt text, keyboard navigation, form labels and captions.
- State privacy laws: California's CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, and a growing list of other state laws give consumers rights over their data. Covered businesses need clear notices and opt-out options.
- CAN-SPAM: marketing emails need accurate sender details, a physical address and a working unsubscribe link.
- TCPA: text-message marketing needs prior express written consent, so SMS opt-in forms must be worded carefully.
- HIPAA: healthcare providers should not collect protected health information through ordinary contact forms. We plan secure alternatives with you.
- FTC rules on reviews: the FTC bans fake reviews and testimonials, and requires clear disclosure of incentives. We only use genuine reviews.
We are developers, not lawyers, so we recommend confirming your obligations with a US adviser. Our job is to make sure the website gives you the tools to comply.
Speed and hosting for American visitors
Your site will be hosted with a reputable provider, in a US data centre or on a content delivery network if your audience is spread across the country. We optimise images, use caching and keep code lean, then test with Google's tools and on real phones before launch. Speed matters even more in the US, where competitors are only a tap away.
eCommerce and payments in the US
US online stores need prices in dollars, sales tax that is calculated correctly for the states where you have obligations, and shipping options customers recognise, such as USPS, UPS and FedEx. We set up gateways such as Stripe, PayPal or Square, with Apple Pay and Google Pay where they make checkout faster on mobile. Our eCommerce website development page has more detail.
Google Ads and landing pages that convert
Clicks in competitive US industries can be expensive, so sending paid traffic to a general home page wastes money fast. We build a focused landing page for each campaign, with one clear offer, trust signals, a short form and a tap-to-call button, and connect conversion tracking before the first dollar is spent.
Campaigns run inside your own Google Ads or Meta account, with your ad budget paid directly to Google or Meta and our management fee kept separate. You get a monthly report showing what was spent, what came in and what we changed.
Reviews and reputation in the US
American customers read reviews before almost every purchase, and Google uses reviews as part of how it ranks local businesses. The rules differ by platform: Google allows you to ask every customer for a review but forbids incentives and selective asking, while Yelp discourages asking for reviews at all. The FTC also bans fake reviews and undisclosed incentives.
We help you set up an honest routine: a short link to your Google review page, a polite request after every job, and prompt, professional replies to every review, including the critical ones. That builds a reputation that lasts and keeps you on the right side of every platform's rules.
Industries we help in the US
Trucking and logistics
Carriers and logistics firms need quote request forms for shippers, driver recruitment pages that work on a phone, and clear authority and safety information that shippers check before they call.
Gas stations, convenience stores and franchises
Accurate hours, services such as diesel, car wash or ATM, and a well-maintained Google Business Profile for each location often matter more than the website itself.
Restaurants and catering
Fast mobile menus, online ordering links, catering enquiry forms and a strong presence on Google and Yelp.
Contractors and home services
Plumbers, roofers, HVAC and cleaning companies win jobs from urgent searches. Service-area pages, tap-to-call and genuine reviews are what count.
Healthcare and dental practices
Provider profiles, service pages and appointment requests, with health information kept out of insecure forms.
Law firms and professional services
Practice-area pages, attorney profiles and careful wording, since state bar rules restrict how lawyers can advertise and describe results.
Punjabi and Indian-American business owners
Many of the US businesses we hear from are owned by Punjabi and Indian-American families, from California's Central Valley, including Yuba City, Fresno, Bakersfield and Stockton, to New York, New Jersey, Indianapolis and the Seattle area. Being able to talk a project through in Punjabi or Hindi, and understanding how family businesses make decisions, often makes the whole process smoother.
Where your customers include Punjabi-speaking families, we can also plan Punjabi or Hindi content alongside English, set up with the correct language tags so Google shows the right version to the right people.
Common problems we see on US small-business websites
- Slow pages caused by heavy themes, sliders and oversized images.
- No accessibility basics, such as missing alt text or forms without labels.
- One page trying to rank for every service and every city.
- Business details that do not match Google, Yelp and the BBB.
- Paid ads pointing at the home page with no conversion tracking.
- Nobody on the business side has the hosting or domain login.
State by state: what changes for your website
The US behaves like several markets at once. Privacy laws, competition and customer expectations change from state to state, so we plan around where your customers actually are:
California: Los Angeles, the Bay Area and the Central Valley
California has the strictest consumer privacy law in the country, so covered businesses need clear privacy notices and the opt-out links the CCPA and CPRA require. Competition in Los Angeles and the Bay Area is intense, while the Central Valley, including Fresno, Stockton, Bakersfield and Yuba City, has many family-run trucking, farming, gas station and restaurant businesses, a large share of them Punjabi-owned.
Texas: Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio
Fast-growing cities with lots of new businesses competing for the same searches. Texas now has its own data privacy law, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and its large metro areas are spread out, so service-area settings and pages about the specific parts of a city you cover make a real difference.
New York and New Jersey
Dense, competitive and fast-moving. New York's SHIELD Act sets data security expectations for businesses holding New Yorkers' personal information, which matters for any site with customer accounts or stored form data. Queens and central New Jersey have large South Asian communities, where bilingual content can help community-facing businesses.
The Midwest: Chicago, Indianapolis and Detroit
A centre of trucking, logistics and manufacturing, including many Punjabi-owned carriers around Indianapolis and Chicago. These businesses usually need driver recruitment pages, shipper quote forms and clear authority and safety information more than a glossy brochure site.
Washington State: Seattle and Kent
A strong tech economy and a growing South Asian community. Health and wellness businesses should know that Washington's My Health My Data Act puts strict rules on collecting health-related data, which affects contact forms and tracking on clinic websites.
A US business calendar
American demand has clear peaks. We plan pages and campaigns two to three months ahead of each one:
| Season | What changes | What we plan for |
|---|---|---|
| January to mid-April | Tax season, with federal returns usually due in mid-April | Tax preparers and accountants need booking pages and ads live early |
| March to May | Spring home services, landscaping and moving | Service-area pages and Local Services Ads for home services |
| Late May to August | Memorial Day sales, summer travel and air-conditioning demand | HVAC, travel and retail campaigns timed for the heat |
| June to November | Hurricane season on the Gulf and Southeast coasts | Emergency and restoration pages ready before storms, not after |
| August and September | Back to school | Education, tutoring and retail offers |
| October and November | Diwali, Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday | Promotions for Indian-American retailers, caterers and online shops |
| December | Holiday shopping and year-end budgets | Gift campaigns and pages for B2B buyers spending remaining budget |
Google Local Services Ads
For many home and professional services in the US, such as plumbers, electricians, HVAC companies, locksmiths, cleaners and some legal and financial services, Google usually shows Local Services Ads at the very top of the results, above normal ads. These ads carry a "Google Guaranteed" or "Google Screened" badge once the business passes Google's checks, which can include background, licence and insurance verification.
Unlike normal Google Ads, Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click, and your reviews and responsiveness affect how often you appear. We can help you prepare for verification, set up the profile and service areas, and manage it alongside your Google Ads and Google Business Profile so all three work together.
A realistic SEO timeline
In the first two months, most of the work is groundwork: audit, technical fixes, profile optimisation and content planning. Between three and six months, longer and less competitive searches usually begin to improve. Competitive searches in large US metros can take six to twelve months or more, depending on how strong the businesses already ranking are. We report real numbers every month, including what is not working yet.

Frequently asked questions
No. Our team works from Amritsar, Punjab, India, and every US project is delivered remotely by phone, WhatsApp and email. We would rather be upfront about that than hide behind a virtual address.
Most work does not need both sides online at once. You send feedback whenever it suits you, and we agree a regular call time at the start of the project, usually early morning on the East Coast or evening on the West Coast. We reply within one business day.
We design and build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most often used to judge website accessibility in the US, and test key pages with accessibility tools and keyboard navigation. No developer can promise legal immunity, but an accessible site greatly reduces risk and works better for every visitor.
We build in a privacy policy page, consent options for tracking where needed and, for businesses covered by California's privacy law, the opt-out links it requires. Your policy wording should be reviewed by a US legal adviser, because obligations depend on your size and what data you collect.
Yes. Paid clicks in the US are expensive, so we build focused landing pages for each campaign, connect conversion tracking before launch and test the forms and call buttons on real phones.
Yes, where you genuinely serve them. Real locations each get a Google Business Profile, and service-area businesses get useful pages about the work they do in each area. We do not create copy-paste city pages or fake addresses, which break Google's rules.
International projects are invoiced in US dollars and paid by international bank transfer, with 50% upfront to start. The scope, timeline and payment terms are agreed in a written proposal and service agreement before work begins.
Yes, we can make sure your Yelp profile is complete and consistent with Google, with accurate categories, hours and photos. Yelp's rules discourage businesses from asking customers for reviews, so we focus on reviews where asking is allowed, such as Google, and on giving customers a great experience that they choose to share.
